These books are a Kodaly-based manual taking the beginner from the very start to around Grade 2, but are also useful books for the non-Kodaly teacher. Based on English nursery rhymes and folksong, the books progress from single Do pieces to Do-La (with transpositions) in the first book. The second book explores rhythmic patterns but also introduces the beginner to pedal exercises, articulations, basic harmony. Both books are sprinkled with duets and interval-based sight-reading duets.
